Our highly experienced, inspiring tutors bring a wealth of knowledge to the Yoga Scotland community. They are an integral part of our organisation, whose core purpose is to serve those interested in yoga by providing transformational educational opportunities.

Graham Burns

Graham Burns

Philosophy Tutor

Graham has taught yoga professionally since 2001, having first qualified in the United States. A keen student of yoga’s complex history and philosophies, he is a faculty member for the Yogacampus Yoga Teacher Training Diploma programmes, and co-designer and co-teacher of the Yogacampus Meditation Teacher Training course. Until 2021, Graham was a Senior Teaching Fellow at SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies of London University) where he taught Hinduism, yoga history, and philosophy. As well as a law degree from Durham University many years ago, Graham has a MA in Indian religions and a PhD in ancient Indian religious philosophy from SOAS, where he remains a member of the Centre of Yoga Studies. He is the Yoga Philosophy Tutor for our Teacher Training course.

Judy Cameron

Judy Cameron

Teacher Training Tutor & Coordinator

Judy is a qualified midwife who started her formal yoga training in South India at the Sivananda Vedanta Ashram in Kerala. She gained her Diploma in Teaching Yoga with the British Wheel of Yoga in the late 1990s and holds teaching certificates in Baby Yoga and Yoga for the Special Child. She has a strong interest in the use of hypnosis in childbirth and teaches HypnoBirthing and Hypnosis for Childbirth. As Co-Director of the Yoga Birth Teacher Training and Tutor for both the BWY Pregnancy Module and the Postnatal Module, she has a deep interest in passing on her knowledge to other teachers. Judy joined Yoga Scotland in 2001, she started the Trainee Tutor Programme in 2014, and was appointed Hatha Tutor in 2016. Since 2021, she has also been teaching anatomy and physiology course components.

Melanie has been teaching since 1995; she completed her Teacher Training with The Yoga For Health Foundation (YfHF) based in Bedfordshire and became a teacher at their residential centre. While there, she continued her studies for the Remedial Teacher Training Course, which she completed in 1996. She completed The Scottish Yoga Teachers Association Diploma in 1999 and has completed numerous further trainings in pregnancy, yoga for children, pranayama and GP referral. She has run several BWY Foundation Courses and set up and run a Remedial Yoga Teacher Training course with her husband. She is also a guest tutor in ‘Yoga and Disability Awareness’ for The Scottish School of Yoga Therapy. Melaine has been teaching the Yoga Scotland Foundation Course since 2019.

Foundation Course Tutor

Andrea first became interested in meditation during the 1990’s which led her to yoga in 2004 which soon became a way of life. She completed her foundation, living yoga and teacher training with Yoga Scotland and qualified as an Accredited Yoga Scotland Teacher in 2016. For five years she ran the Yoga Mill Centre, where she taught hatha yoga and meditation to all ages. She has been a tutor with Yoga Scotland since 2019, teaching the Foundation Course for the Boarders and also teaching the Philosophy component on the Edinburgh Foundation course as a guest lecturer. Andrea is also a qualified Yoga Therapist having trained with SSYT, and a massage therapist.

Susannah was taught yoga as a child by her grandmother, Connie Dennison, who started teaching in the 1950s and continued into her 100th year! After graduating from art school, Susannah returned to yoga in 2003 and completed her teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga. She is also a qualified Yogabirth and Inner Yoga Teacher and has completed training in postnatal and birth preparation yoga. She is a published author of ‘Yoga and Breathing for Pregnancy and Birth’ and a well-being writer. She is the lead tutor for the Glasgow Yoga Scotland Teacher Training Course.

Jackie Le Brocq

Jackie began her yoga journey in Glasgow in the late seventies. She practiced under the guidance of Swami Mukti Devananda Saraswati in Vancouver in the early eighties and trained to teach with The Scottish Yoga Teachers’ Association in Edinburgh in the late eighties. She became a tutor for Yoga Scotland on the first Glasgow Teacher Training course in 2000, moving to the Edinburgh course a year later. Since 2005, she has followed the teachings of Swami Rama and the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy, learning with Rolf Sovik, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Swami Veda and many others in the USA, India, the Netherlands and the UK. She teaches yoga and meditation classes and also runs yoga, meditation, walking and mantra chanting days, weekends and weeks.

Foundation Course Tutor

Rona has been practising for around 20 years and is a qualified Yoga Teacher with a Teaching Diploma from the British Wheel of Yoga. She is also a Coach with Aberdeenshire’s Active Schools, teaching curricular and after-school yoga to secondary and primary schools. In 2016, she was appointed Tutor for Yoga Scotland on the Aberdeen Foundation Course. She is also a Teaching Assistant on the British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Training Diploma.

Lindsay Porter

Lindsey Porter

Foundation Course Tutor

Lindsey began her teacher training with Yogrishi Vishvketu in Akhanda Hatha Yoga in Rishikesh, India, in 2006 and continued her training with Yoga Scotland. She is Curvy Yoga qualified and has undertaken further studies in experiential anatomy training with Judith Hanson Lasater and also Special Yoga & Mindfulness for Autism & ADHD. She co-produces a free international podcast series – Voices of Yoga (voicesofyoga.com) – sharing inspiring stories from yogis around the world which is listened to in over 70 countries. She writes wellbeing-based articles and publications writing contributions for the Huffington Post, OM Yoga magazine, YOGA magazine and our own Yoga Scotland magazine. Lindsey’s first book, ‘Whirlpools, yoga and the balance of life’ was published in December 2018 by Book Reality Experience. She is a tutor for our Glasgow Foundation training course.

Cathy Swan

Cathy Swan

Teacher Training Tutor and Assessor Co-ordinator

Cathy qualified as a yoga teacher in 1985 and has continued to learn and study many styles and schools of yoga since then, and her teaching reflects her varied yoga background.

She teaches classes and workshops and also provides one-to-one yoga therapy.  She is particularly inspired by the therapeutic benefits of yoga and keeps updated with the latest research in support of yoga and health. Cathy has been a tutor on the Yoga Scotland Teacher Training Course since the 1990s and is passionate about training student teachers in all aspects of yoga, providing a safe and supportive environment for learning and self-growth.

Marjory Watt

Marjory Watt

Living Yoga Course Tutor

Marjory graduated from Art School in 1975 and became an Accredited Yoga Scotland Teacher in 1985. She studied Art Therapy at Glasgow Caledonian University, where she received a Postgraduate Diploma in 1997 and became a Reiki Master in 2001. She is a highly experienced teacher and has extensive knowledge in areas of practice, her teaching focuses on meditation, mindfulness and breathwork. She became a Yoga Scotland Tutor in 2006 and teaches our Living Yoga course.
