Event Details

The art of Qi Gong is a holistic system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation used for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial-arts training. These exercises have become increasingly practiced across the world and have been enjoyed by students from many backgrounds and environments including schools, colleges, hospitals, care homes and prisons. By doing these movements in conjunction with soft, even breathing and a sense of mindfulness or intent you can also enjoy the many benefits including increased relaxation, reduced tension, better body awareness and a calm, focused mind. Qi Gong has a powerful effect on the whole of the body and mind. Every exercise has an effect on the whole energetic system, allowing energy (qi) to flow freely. It is possible to practice Qi Gong with mobility difficulties – each posture can be adapted, and it is feasible to practice whilst sitting on a chair.

The day will complement the event of February 2024 but will have a different focus and programme

Tutor Bio

Phil is a well-recognised Martial Arts teacher, specialising in Japanese Ju-Jitsu. Phil is a mindfulness teacher, having trained through Skilful Minds. He has also undertaken Youth Mindfulness training in their kid’s programme and is qualified to teach this to 7–11-year-olds. This material can be adapted as necessary for younger or older children. Phil teaches Qi Gong several times a week – which can be seen to be a form of mindful movement.

Training for a little over 40 years in Martial Arts, Phil has coached throughout Europe whilst studying in the main Shaolin Zen meditation, this being single point meditation. Phil started his path of meditation after being introduced to it by his martial arts instructor JF Yamaue, who is also a Shaolin priest, over 25 years ago.

Phil is also our treatment provider, he’s a Reiki Master and offers Acupressure and TFT/EFT – otherwise known as Tapping.
