Teacher Training Course Update

Yoga Teacher Training Course Outline Update and Introduction of New Online Training Modules

Our 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course is a two-year, part-time diploma-level programme comprising two residential and thirteen non-residential weekends. For courses starting September 2024, a hybrid of in-person and online modules will be offered for some course components, providing students with flexibility and accessibility in their learning journey. Additionally, non-residential weekends will feature shortened Sunday schedules.

Course Outline
Students will explore a practical and theoretical syllabus presented in four units that run concurrently throughout the two years;

1 Hatha Yoga Studies: Delve into the classical asanas and fundamental yoga practices through immersive tutorial sessions, personal sadhana, and introspective self-reflection.

2 Teaching Skills: Develop comprehensive teaching abilities by instructing peers under the mentorship of our Lead Tutor. The second year emphasises specialised topics such as class management and yoga instruction for pregnancy. While not obligatory, students are encouraged to conduct their own classes with guidance during this phase.

3 Anatomy & Physiology for Yoga: Gain insight into the intricate anatomical structures and physiological functions of the human body. Understand how bodily systems intersect with yoga practices, including asana, pranayama, relaxation, and meditation.

4 Yoga Philosophy: Explore the rich philosophical roots of yoga from Eastern traditions and learn to integrate these profound teachings into personal practice, teaching methodologies, and daily life.

Membership Benefits

All teacher-training students will also receive a complimentary membership to Yoga Scotland, which will connect them with the largest yoga network in Scotland. This vibrant, inclusive community connects through community events and shares evidence-based insights, knowledge, and resources. Additionally, members enjoy discounts on our events and workshops, a free subscription to our biannual magazine, and a monthly newsletter with access to complimentary seasonal practice.

 Certification

 Upon successful completion of the teacher training program, graduates will be awarded the Yoga Scotland 500-Hour Teaching Diploma, the highest credential for yoga instructors in the UK. This certification is CIMSPA approved and verified, externally validated and globally recognised. Graduates also earn the designation of Yoga Scotland Accredited Teacher, affirming their commitment to excellence and professionalism in yoga instruction.
